We take pride in the complete ecosystem we’ve developed on the Ponderosa. Our fertile land grows our herd’s feed so they can produce milk, and, in turn, their nutrient-rich waste is given back to the land in the most eco-friendly way possible.
Manure is one of the farm’s most valuable commodities. It has several uses on the Ponderosa:
- In its liquid form, it is spread over soil as a natural fertilizer—saving the environment from chemical fertilizers.
- Solids are processed into potting soil or they can be dried, sterilized and used as bedding for our cows.
- Manure is also processed into bio fuel through an anaerobic digester system.
